Currently over 24,000 students from the Upper Grand, Wellington Catholic and Dufferin Peel Catholic School Boards have agreed to Live Free compared to 17,000 who participated in the inaugural campaign in 2009. Live Free @ School participants will promise to Live Free of a daily treat and donate a toonie to the campaign. Each toonie donated will provide on nutritious breakfast and snack!

Live Free Raises Over $26,000

We are pleased to announce that with your support, the Live Free Campaign was a great success. In the inaugural year, we were able to reach a total of $26,000 in donations and pledges.
The key message of Live Free was that even with only a small change in your daily routine you could help many children who are living without in our community. With $26,000 Food and Friends will be able to provide over 20,000 breakfasts at schools in Guelph, Wellington and Dufferin County. This was achieved by many people giving up something as small as a daily coffee.
The Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington and the students who benefit from Food and Friends would like to thank you for supporting Live Free.
We look forward to growing the Live Free Campaign in 2010 and hope that you will join us with an effort to Live Free on March 5th, 2010.

Today is Live Free Day. Over 17,000 students, 35 businesses and 15 individual ambassadors are Living Free. They are making a sacrifice for those in our community who are living without.
Thank them for their efforts by making a donation to the Live Free Campaign. Your donation will help provide snacks and meals for the children in our communities who are going to school too hungry to learn.

Students Begin to Make Their Live Free Promises

Over 17,000 students across Guelph, Wellington and Dufferin will be giving up something that they take for granted on Friday, March 6th. Karen Rathwell, principal at Gateway Drive Public School reports that students have put a lot of thought into what they are giving up and and truly challenging themselves. Some of the items her students will be giving up include their computer, iPod and daily treats.
Ed Sluga, Executive Director of The Children's Foundation, recently made a presentation to students at Laurine Avenue Public School on the Live Free Toonie Challenge that they are participating in. Following the presentation, a grade one student walked up to Ed and tugged on his jacket. When he turned around she presented him with 2 toonies and said "these are for you!"
Students like these are making a sacrifice and supporting their own Food and Friends programs by participating in Live Free. Show them you are proud of their effort to Live Free and Donate now to the Live Free Campaign.

Now anyone can participate in Live Free - even if you're not famous or your workplace is not participating. And - it's easy! Here's how:
- Choose something to Live Free of on Friday March 6th.
- Donate the money that you would normally spend on that item on the Live Free Individual donation page.
- When making your donation, list what you are giving up in the comment box to be displayed on the donation page.
- On March 6th, Live Free!
Remember, every donation counts! Food and Friends can provide a delicious and nutritious breakfast for one student with $1.10.
